Better pay an Indonesian to use a mask for Covid-19.
Covid-19 in Indonesia is increasing every day. If you look at the worldometer web, Indonesia occupies the 4th position in Asia. But in my opinion, maybe Indonesia is in the first position in Asia. That is because the atmosphere in Indonesia is like no Covid-19. If European countries and others apply health protocols, then Indonesia is the opposite.
Most Indonesians think that Covid-19 is a lie and is the business of Indonesian doctors. Others think that they are immune to Covid19 because of their beliefs and many more. Therefore, I will share my opinion about why Covid19 in Indonesia continues to rise and even skyrocket until now.
Listen more to religious leaders.
Indonesia is a country with the largest Muslim population in Asia and even in the world. The Indonesian people listen more to the religious leaders than the government, yes, although not everyone listens to the religious leaders. They consider religious leaders more worthy of being listened to than the government. The reason they only listen to religious leaders is that they believe religious leaders are people who are close to God, and their words can be trusted.
Believe more in spiritual matters.
In Indonesia, more people are not educated. Many of them get education only up to senior high school. They usually believe more in spiritual things. Indeed in Indonesia, spiritual matters are passed down from their parents. Mystical things are always associated when they are hit by disaster, sickness, and even to get a mate or things they want to prioritize mystical things. When they are sick, many prefer to go to a dukun rather than to a doctor. Even when they were claimed to have contracted Covid-19 by doctors, they fled to see a shaman.
Cultural Barriers
Indonesia has thousands of diverse cultures and many languages. The culture that is adhered to by many people in Indonesia is the culture in society and socializing. With the existence of health protocols recommended by the government, that culture is hindered. They cannot be social and social. Even those who follow government recommendations to implement health protocols are often seen as odd. Therefore, many Indonesian people ignore the government’s recommendations.
Economic Barriers
Indonesia, which is a developing country, still has many economic problems. Especially during the current pandemic era, Indonesia is getting worse and worse. Many low-income people complain that if they stick to health protocols, they can’t find food. Their principle in finding a living is “Seeking sustenance today to eat today.”. They don’t think about money to save. They want to be able to eat for the day they seek sustenance. Maybe they will comply with covid19 health protocols if they are given money for doing so.
Conclusion
The increasing number of Covid-19 in Indonesia is caused by several things such as culture, religion/spirituality, economy, and religious leaders they trust. Besides these things, hoaxes in Indonesia are increasingly adding to the idea that Covid-19 is a lie and is only a business field from doctors only.
